4.2.20 How You Can Help

I wanted to keep you updated on the efforts going on in our community to bring much-needed support to our neighbors and combat COVID-19. I’ve received many requests asking how you can help, and I wanted to pass along information about both local and national organizations you can support:

Advocates for the Homeless and Those in Need

  • Providing services to the homeless through emergency shelters, food, and other life-sustaining needs

American Red Cross

  • The Red Cross is in critical need due to the outbreak as blood drives continue to be canceled. Please consider making an appointment to donate lifesaving blood, platelets, and AL Elite plasma

Coalition to Shelter and Support the Homeless

  • Providing assistance to the homeless during the crisis. Visit their website to find out how to donate or volunteer

Code Blue

Feeding Pennsylvania

  • Supporting local food banks here in Pennsylvania, distributing food to families hit the hardest by the outbreak

  • Donate to the Montgomery County food bank here

Fresh Connect Bucks County

  • A Free Mobile Farm Market that provides fresh produce to low-income families and seniors at three locations throughout Bucks County each week

Local Hospitals

  • Support by donating funds, medical supplies, or food and care packages

Salvation Army

  • Financial contributions allow them to quickly respond to changing needs. In-kind goods of non-perishable food, baby supplies, hygiene products, cleaning and sanitizing items, and paper products are also welcome at select Salvation Army facilities.

United Way of Bucks County COVID-19 Recovery Fund

  • Bucks County COVID-19 Recovery Fund is a local, coordinated emergency response fund to support that short- and long-term financial recovery of people in Bucks County

YMCA

  • Providing emergency child care for health care workers and first responders; food for children without access to school meals; and outreach to seniors in social isolation

Your Way Home

  •  Providing emergency and permanent housing to those in need

If you’re self-isolating or in a high-risk group, donating funds, medical supplies or care packages is a great way to support our community. If you are otherwise healthy, in a low-risk group, and engaging in social distancing, you may also want to consider volunteering as your help is desperately needed.

I also continue to encourage you to visit www.coronavirus.gov to access helpful tips and ways to keep yourself and your loved ones safe during this outbreak, including

  • Washing your hands
  • Cleaning frequently touched objects and surfaces
  • Avoiding contact with those who are sick
  • Staying home if you are sick
