RELEASE: Fitzpatrick Statement on Nice, France Terror Attack

DOYLESTOWN, PA – Brian Fitzpatrick, candidate for Congress, released the following statement regarding the terror attack in Nice, France Thursday night:

“Once again, we are shocked and deeply saddened by a terror attack on innocent civilians – this time those of Nice, France.

As we mourn those lost in this atrocious act, we are reminded that the threat posed by radical terrorists is global and persistent. The war against extremism and hate has no front lines and, as such, the United States – in every capacity – must be willing and ready to defend itself, its allies and freedom-loving people the world over from this menace.

While we stand with the people of France in this time of tragedy, our leaders must also be resolute in doing all they can to address threats to our security, including: Clearly defining our enemies and executing strategies to defeat them, not appease them; basing foreign policy on facts and logic, not political correctness; cutting off terror groups’ access to funding by working with the international banking community to crack down on money laundering; and restoring American leadership across the globe in a manner that advances our interests without putting our resources at risk.”

For nearly a decade and a half, Fitzpatrick served as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigations where his focus was fighting political corruption and supporting global counterterrorism efforts. He served as the National Director for the FBI’s Campaign Finance and Election Crimes Enforcement Program, as well as a national supervisor for the FBI’s Political Corruption Unit where he traveled the world to promote democracy and was recognized as an expert in restoring integrity to governmental institutions. For his work, Fitzpatrick was an inaugural recipient of the FBI Director’s Leadership Award. Prior to joining the FBI, Fitzpatrick served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, prosecuting violent drug and gun offenders to stem the tide of abuse and violence.
